Master Summoner’s Kit Drop Rates with 20k Data
Hey guys, in this article I share with you drop rates from the Master Summoner’s Kit based on a very nice 20k data points. So let’s jump into the analysis / study and look at the results.
Results Chart
- 95.2% of the time the chest / kit / box will drop a blue card.
- 4.8% of the time a purple card will drop.
- Inside a rarity type / color type there does not seem to be any discrimination towards one or another card, they all have relatively similar drop rates among their respective rarity group, which is average 19% for blue cards and average 1% for purple cards.
First Activation
We can also try to estimate how long it might take to activate for the first time all purple cards.
Chances:
We can see that in average 1 out of 100 Master Summoner’s Kits will drop a purple card of a specific type and there are 5 purple card types that we must activate. If you have no purple cards activated, then your chance to get one is 5%. So, to activate your first purple card should take ~20 kits. But, once activated, the chance of getting your second NEW purple card goes to 4%, so it will take 25 more kits kits to get your second, 33 kits for third, 50 kits for second and 100 kits for the last one. That means based on rough odds, it will take 228 kits to find all purple cards.
Time Taken:
We also know that we get about 15 points (or shards) per explore with a new card given every 6 hours, which means that for 100 Master Summoner’s Kits we need 10000 points (or shards), which is 667 explorations or hunts or 167 days or 5.5 months. So for 228 kits, to unlock all purple cards will take ~381 days or just over 1 year to find them all (higher or lower, as usual, depending on luck).

Not “one in every 100 will drop a purple card”, its 5 in every 100.
Hi, that’s not what I meant, but I see that the way I wrote was not clear so I changed to: “…We can see that in average 1 out of 100 Master Summoner’s Kits will drop a purple card that you might need out of the 5 purple card types, so it might take…”
Thanks for helping improve clarity,
Cosmos
the calculation is wrong
you drop 5 purple cards out of 100 chests
each of the purple card has the same drop chance
so in average you drop 5 diffrent purple cards out of 100 chests, so we dont have to opfen 500 chests, only 100
500 chests would be 25 purple cards in average
I think I disagree, but I am not 100% sure, maybe more people can help out: even though you drop 5 purple cards out of 100, these are 5 random cards while the paragraph there is talking about the chance of finding a specific purple card that a player might wish for that is not yet activated. The chance of that specific card from 100 cards is 1 out of 100.
And so as Step 1 every time you open 100 chests you get 1 purple card and then, Step 2, from that drop you have 1/5 or 20% chance of getting the card you want, which means we must multiple the 100 by 5 to bring this to 100% giving the “around 500” that I wrote.

each of the 5 cards have a 20% drop chance while you get a purple card… in 100 cheasts you get 5 purple cards…
in 500 chests you get 25 purple cards…
see it like a dice… the dice has 100 sides. 95 of the sides have blue sides and 5 sides have a purple side. in average you have to roll the dice 100 times to see all sides of the dice and so to see all of the purple sides
or easier
think about a 6 side dice. you wanne roll a 4 5 or 6
when you roll it 6 times in average you get each number 1 times
its easy math
or lets make it more easier
each purple card has a drop chance of 1%
1% means 1 out of 100
Oki dok, I guess I over-complicated things and got confused, thanks.
I changed the paragraph and added estimation based on shard collection as well. Although I haven’t slept this night I hope I did it correctly and if not let me know 🙂
Cheers,
Cosmos
its more confusing than before^^
why not just write “in average we need 100 chests to get all 5 purple cardsm because they all have a drop chance of 1%”
That’s incredible that you saved up that many kits! Congrats for that.
🙂
Based on odds, if you have no purple cards activated, then your chance to get one is 5%. So, to activate your first purple card should take ~20 kits. But, once activated, the chance of getting your second NEW purple card goes to 4%, so it will take 25 more kits kits to get your second, 33 kits for third, 50 kits for second and 100 kits for the last one.
That means based on rough odds, it will take 228 kits to find all cards. Using your 167 days to find 100 kits, means to unlock all cards will take ~381 days or just over 1 year to find them all.
Thank you, updated the article.
